Welcome to Base
Base runs a building business from the first enquiry to the final claim: estimating, programme, site, money, and an assistant that reads your plans and does the paperwork. The sign-in page is where you create your account, sign in, or reset a password. One account belongs to one business (your organisation); the people you invite share it.
- An email address and a mobile number. Everyone on Base confirms a mobile with a texted code; Base texts you when something needs you.
- A card, once you have told Base about your business. Signing up is open; using the product needs a plan, and every plan starts with a free trial where one is offered.
- If someone invited you, use the link in their email rather than the Create account form (see Join a business you were invited to).
- Open the sign-in page and press Create account.
- Press Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft, or fill in Full name, Email address, Mobile number, Password (at least the minimum length shown) and Confirm password.
- Tick the box agreeing to the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement. Complete the human check if one is shown.
- Press Create account.
Base emails you a confirmation link. Opened on the same device, it signs you straight in; on another device it confirms your email and asks you to sign in. If the link expires, sign in with your email and password and Base offers Resend confirmation email.
- Enter Email address and Password, or press Continue with Google / Continue with Microsoft.
- Press Sign in.
You land on the dashboard, or on the page you were trying to reach. An unconfirmed email is refused with an offer to resend the confirmation.
- Press Forgot password?
- Enter your email and press Send reset link.
- Open the link in the email. On the Set new password page, enter and confirm a new password (at least 8 characters).
You are signed in and sent to the dashboard. If the page says it is still verifying, the link has probably expired; request a new one.
The first time you sign in, Base asks for two things before it opens, on one screen called Your details:
- You: your Full name, Your role (Owner / Builder, Estimator, Project Manager, Site Supervisor and so on) and your Mobile. If your mobile is not yet confirmed, press Text me a code, enter the 6-digit code and press Confirm. Resend code is available after 30 seconds; Use a different number goes back.
- Your business: Business name, Primary trade, Team size and Typical project size are required. ABN, Where you work and Website are optional. An ABN is checked against the ATO check-digit rule, so a typo is caught here rather than on a document.
- Press Continue.
Everything you type is saved as you go, so closing the tab loses nothing. Your role sets which workspace the nav opens in and how the assistant pitches its answers; the business details go on your quotes and documents. All of it can be changed later in Settings.
The second screen is Your plan.
- Press Start your trial (or Choose a plan when no trial is offered) to pick a plan and add a card. Every plan includes the whole platform and your whole team; you are not charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel from Billing.
- Or press I'll decide later. Your answers are kept. Signing back in with the same email brings you straight back here.
Once subscribed, Create your first project opens the app.
- Open the invite link from the email. It lands on Welcome to [business name], signed in as the invited address.
- Enter your Full name, a New password and Confirm password, then submit.
You are sent to the dashboard. An expired or reused link says so; ask the person who invited you to send a new one.
If you reach the app without a confirmed mobile (an invited member, or an older account), a dialog called Add your mobile number opens over the app and stays until you confirm. Press Text me a code, enter the code, then Continue. The only other way out is Sign out.
- Base signs the whole organisation up to the plan one admin chooses; nobody else is asked for a card.
- When a card payment fails, the business keeps working for a grace period of 14 days, then falls back to read-only.
- A business that has paid before and lapses can still sign in to read and export its own projects, estimates and cost history. It cannot create or change anything until a plan is active again.
- Your first dashboard opens the assistant with a welcome message, once per device, when you have no projects yet.
- Signing up and signing in are different doors. Anyone can create an account, but until the business has an active plan every page redirects to the plan picker. There is no free tier to explore.
- The mobile is not optional. Everyone on Base needs a confirmed mobile, and the dialog cannot be dismissed.
- The assistant tailors itself to the role you choose on the details screen. An owner who picks "Estimator" will see pricing detail first; change the role in your profile if the answers feel pitched wrong.
- Google and Microsoft sign-in create the account and the business if the email is new. If a colleague already set the business up, use the invite they send you instead, or you will end up with a second, empty business.
- A browser that blocks the confirmation link's redirect shows "That email link didn't work". Enter your email and password on the sign-in page and Base offers to resend it.
