Renders

Photorealistic pictures of parts of the job, made from the drawings.

Renders

What it is

Pictures of this job made from its drawings or its 3D models: a room, the shop front, a joinery item, an estimate line. The chat makes them on request from the floor plan, finishes and colour schedules, joinery elevations and any existing renders, and keeps them here, each linked to the estimate lines, sections, plan pages or models it came from. Estimators and the person talking to the client use them.

Before you start

  • The drawings are on the job's Documents; a render is drawn from them.
  • Each image costs a few cents and is booked to your organisation, so the chat only renders when someone asks.

How to

Ask for a render

  1. Ask the chat: "render the dining area from two perspectives", "the shop front and glazing", "render estimate line 7.3".
  2. It finds the drawings, crops them and renders to scale. The picture appears in the chat and here.
  3. A built 3D model (a joinery unit, or the floor plan's Build 3D) renders from its viewer's Render image button and lands here marked From 3D model.

See where a render came from

  1. Each card shows what was asked, what it shows and how many drawings or viewer captures it was drawn from. Click a subject chip to open the estimate line or section; open the render for its full-size view and the plan pages behind it.
  2. Filter by source (drawings or 3D model), by what it shows, or by estimate section.

Put one on the dashboard

  1. Press Set as project banner. The render runs across the top of the project dashboard.
  2. Remove banner clears it. The chat can do either.

Remove a render

  1. Press the delete control on the card and confirm. The image is removed from the project.

What happens on its own

  • The chat renders only when asked, never from an automation.
  • A render keeps its links. Deleting the estimate line it illustrates does not delete the render.

Things that surprise people

  • A render illustrates what the drawings say; the drawings govern. If it gets something wrong, ask for a re-render with the correction.
  • A failed render stays on the page with its reason until you delete it.
  • The estimate — the lines and sections renders link to
  • Floor Plan — Build 3D, which can be rendered
  • Designs — 3D models, which can be rendered
