Refer and earn
Refer & earn is your own link to Base and what it earns you. You apply, Base approves you, you get a link, and when a builder signs up through it and pays for Base, you are paid a share of what they pay, in cash to your bank. The standard deal is 10% of their subscription payments for as long as they stay a customer; the exact terms you are on are shown on the page and locked in for each referral the day they sign up.
The page is per person, not per organisation. Two people in the same business get two links and each is credited for their own. It is not admin-only: the person who recommends Base is often not the one who pays the invoice.
- Approval comes first. There is no link, nothing is tracked and nothing is earned until a site admin at Base has approved your application. The page is the application form until then.
- To be paid you connect a bank account through Stripe after approval. Stripe collects your bank and tax details directly; Base never sees them.
- Have your ABN ready for the application, and know whether you are registered for GST.
- Fill in your name, your website if you have one, and how you would promote Base: who you know or reach, roughly how many, and where.
- Enter your ABN (for payment) and tick Registered for GST if you are.
- Press Send application.
The page shows Application received. Base reviews every application personally and emails you the outcome. If an earlier application was declined, the reason is shown and you are welcome to apply again.
- Once approved, the Your link tab shows your referral link. Press Copy.
- To change the code at the end of the link, press the edit button, type a new one (letters, numbers and hyphens) and save. Referrals you have already made are not affected, but the old link stops working.
- Send the link to the device the person will sign up on.
- Referrals lists each sign-up as a date and a status (signed up, converted). Who they are is never shown; that is their privacy.
- Statement lists every payment that earned you something, with the working, including any that earned nothing and why.
- Payouts shows your money in three states: Held (inside the refund window), Ready to pay (paid out once it is above the minimum) and paid, with the payout history.
- Earnings calculator projects what a given number of referrals on each plan would earn you on your terms.
- On the Payouts tab, press the connect button. You leave Base for Stripe's onboarding, which takes a couple of minutes.
- You return with the payout account marked connected.
- When someone clicks your link, Base remembers it on that device for the cookie period shown on the page. If they create a brand-new account in that time on the same device, the referral is yours.
- You earn when their subscription payment actually arrives, not when they sign up. A trial that never becomes a paid plan earns nothing.
- Each amount is held for the refund window, then moves to ready. Once what is ready passes the minimum, it is paid to your bank through Stripe.
- Your terms are frozen for each referral the day they sign up. Later changes to the program never change what an existing referral earns you.
- The assistant can read your link, stats and status, copy the link, file your application and start Stripe onboarding when you ask. It cannot approve you; a person at Base does that.
- Nothing before approval. No link, no credit, no kickback. Sharing a guess at your link before you are approved tracks nothing.
- There is no account credit option. Commission is cash to your bank, which is why Stripe onboarding is required.
- Same device, first link wins. A link opened on a phone cannot be matched to an account made later on a laptop, and if they clicked someone else's link first, the referral is theirs.
- It has to be a new Base account. Existing customers, people in your own business, and signing up through your own link do not count.
- A paused affiliate account stops crediting referrals. The page says so; contact support if you think it is a mistake.
- Billing for the plans your referrals pay for.
