A job's team

What it is

The Project Team page: which company teams contribute people to this job, and the roster of who is on it with the role each holds: Head PM, Site Supervisor, Estimator, Contract Administrator or Foreman. Exactly one Head PM is allowed per job. It is about responsibility on this job, not about who can log in.

Before you start

  • The Teams module is on (Settings → Team Modules).
  • At least one team exists under Teams with the people in it. A person can only join a job from a linked team.

How to

  1. Under Linked teams, press Link team and pick a team.
  2. It appears as linked, and its members become eligible for the roster. The bin unlinks it after a confirmation; people already on the job from that team stay as history until removed individually.

Add people and set their roles

  1. Under Project roster, each linked team has Add from this team. Pick the Role, then the person.
  2. They join the roster under their team. The role dropdown on their row changes it; the bin removes them after a confirmation (tasks assigned to them will need a new assignee).
  3. The Head PM is shown at the top of the page. Adding a second Head PM is refused.

What happens on its own

  • Notifications that need a human owner go to the Head PM, and fall back to admins if there is not one.
  • The roster powers the assignee and collaborator pickers on the Programme and the owner chips on Tasks.
  • The assistant can link teams and add members from chat; the page refreshes when it does.

Things that surprise people

  • A job with no Head PM sends everything to everyone.
  • The role is job-scoped. Someone can be Head PM here and Foreman elsewhere.
  • Access is set at the company level. Removing someone from the roster does not stop them opening the job.
  • Teams for the company's teams and their members.
