Site induction

What crew acknowledge on first sign-in, per job.

Site induction

What it is

The induction every person must acknowledge the first time they sign in at this job's QR code: a title, a short welcome, steps (a video, a PDF, an image or text) and the conditions they agree to. Most jobs inherit the company default; this page is where a job that genuinely differs gets its own, and where you see who has acknowledged which version.

Before you start

  • The Timesheets module is on (Settings → Team Modules).
  • You are an admin. Saving or reverting an induction is admins only.
  • The company default is set under Settings → Site induction default (see Site induction default). Without one, workers see Base's built-in standard construction induction.

How to

Customise the induction for this job

  1. The page opens showing what workers see today: Inheriting the org-default induction (or the standard one if no default is set), with a preview of its steps and conditions.
  2. Press Customise for this project to start from a copy of the inherited induction, or Start blank.
  3. In the builder, set the Title and intro, add Steps (video link, uploaded PDF, image or text; reorder or remove them) and the Conditions to agree.
  4. Press Save induction. From now on this job uses its own induction, and anyone who has not acknowledged this version is asked to on their next sign-in.

Go back to the company default

Press Revert to org default, then Click again to revert to confirm. The job's own induction is deleted and the inherited one applies again.

See who has been inducted

Acknowledged lists each person who has completed the induction for this site, the version they acknowledged and the date.

What happens on its own

  • Changing the content bumps the version. Workers who acknowledged an earlier version are re-inducted at their next sign-in; an unchanged save does nothing.
  • Every version's full content is kept, so the register can say exactly what someone agreed to.
  • Saving, creating or reverting an induction raises an event the automation engine and the assistant can act on.
  • The assistant can save or revert a job's induction from chat; this page refreshes when it does.

Things that surprise people

  • Induction is acknowledged at first sign-in. Anyone who has never scanned in has never been inducted, whatever the paperwork says.
  • A site that does not need its own induction should not have one. Customise only where this job truly differs; otherwise a change to the company default is what you want.
  • Reverting deletes the job's induction. The acknowledgements stay.
